Wow, it’s been a year!

February 8th, 2011

and I’ve learned so much! One thing is that I’ll never be that sit down and write something every day person. :-)
It’s been a big learning year. Learning about where I want to go… on so many levels.
Artistically I’m appreciating many comments about the spiritually seen in both my painting and photography. It’s hard to think of myself as a religious person. As a Unitarian Universalist I accept all faiths and paths to how one defines god. I vehemently reject the intolerance which is attached to so many orthodox faiths. So I’m enjoying bringing more power to the goddeses and gods that inhabit my work. So often, like in the photo Poseidon’s Hand, the image surprises me as I edited. It is as if the goddesses were doing their thing!
I’m finding my heroes working their way into my work. Being as passionate about politics as I am you will start seeing more of those forces finding their painterly voice. (Just recently Ted Kennedy’s face appeared in the granite behind a waterfall.)
I’m still trying to find my market. I like going to the art fairs and outdoors shows just for the simple honest interaction with people. Where to go in 2011? There’s nothing more cool than that little 3 year old girl who studied my kayak goddess painting, then quite seriously looked at me and asked “how did you do that?” I could see in her parents that she would not lack paints and encouragement.
I wish I didn’t have to deal with the whole business thing. You know the book keeping and files and stuff. It’s just distracting. The last time I ran a business I had a pencil and a ledger pad. hmmm. I think I still have that ledger pad.
OK, now I need to get my act together and post some new work!

Happy Holidays!

December 22nd, 2010

First let me thank you for letting me know that so pictures aren’t uploading on all screens. I’m working on that!
Second thank you for being out there, at the shows and all your supports and encouragement. It’s great that so many appreciate the visual arts and enjoy my vision. I have always believed that art is about communication. Without you, my work wouldn’t be complete.

Happy Thanksgiving
